Kurzprofil

Jakob Neels ist ein kognitiver Linguist und hat derzeit eine Postdoc-Stelle am Institut für Anglistik der Universität Leipzig inne. Bevor er dort 2020 promoviert wurde, führte ihn sein Studium u. a. an die Bangor University (Wales) und ans Max-Planck-Institut für evolutionäre Anthropologie (Leipzig). Seine Forschung befasst sich vor allem mit gebrauchsbasierten Ansätzen zur Erklärung von Sprachvariation und -wandel, einschließlich des kürzlich abgeschlossenen Dissertationsprojekts zu kognitiven und soziopragmatischen Faktoren in Grammatikalisierung. Er bietet Lehrveranstaltungen zu einer Reihe von linguistischen Themen an, wie etwa historische Sprachwissenschaft, die Struktur der englischen Sprache, Präskriptivismus, Konstruktionsgrammatik und akademisches Schreiben.
