Rita Bullwinkel appointed as next Picador Guest Professor for Literature at the Institute for American Studies at Leipzig University. She will hold the professorship in the summer term of 2024.

We are happy to announce that American Studies Leipzig will welcome Rita Bullwinkel as our next Picador Guest Professor for Literature in the summer term of 2024.

Rita Bullwinkel is the author of Headshot, a noveland Belly Up, a story collection that won the Believer Book Award. The recipient of a 2022 Whiting Award, she is the editor of McSweeney's Quarterly, a contributing editor at NOON, and an assistant professor of English at University of San Francisco, where she teaches courses on creative writing, zines, and the uses of invented and foreign languages as tools for world building. At American Studies Leipzig, Rita Bullwinkel will teach two courses and will also give a public reading during her stay at Leipzig University.
