Previous Picador Professor Justin Torres has won the National Book Award for Fiction for his novel Blackouts. The judges praised the novel’s “aesthetic complexity, multiplicity, and beauty” as well as its treatment of “the literal, metaphorical, and historical erasures of queer sexuality.”

Justin Torres was the Picador Guest Professor for Literature for the Summer Term 2016. The Picador Guest Professorship team congratulates him on winning this prize.
