I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees in American Studies from Leipzig University and have since taken up a position as a Doctoral Fellow at ASL to further pursue my interest in American literature and culture. As part of the DFG-funded project Enfreakment as an Invective Mode in US-American Popular Culture I investigate the process of enfreakment in popular culture. More specifically, my research approaches the concept in the genre of superhero fiction and explores how the genre-specific invective practices stage normativity, deviance, and performativity. This will be achieved through close readings of exemplary visual media to analyze the socially and culturally charged encounters that enfreak the on-screen characters.
