We are delighted to announce that American Studies Leipzig will welcome Daniel Gumbiner as our next Picador Guest Professor for Literature in the winter term of 2024/25.
Daniel Gumbiner is the author of two novels. His debut novel, The Boatbuilder, was nominated for the National Book Award and a finalist for the California Book Awards. His new novel, Fire in the Canyon, was a finalist for the California Book Awards and was also named a New Yorker Best Book of the Year. In his writing, Daniel is interested in the people and landscape of his native California, questions of labor, and the effects of climate change. He is the Editor of The Believer. At American Studies Leipzig, Daniel Gumbiner will teach two classes and will also give a public reading during his stay at Leipzig University.
