From 6-8 November 2025, the Institute for American Studies at Leipzig University will host the Postgraduate Forum (PGF) of the German Association for American Studies (GAAS). The three-day conference will take place at the Graduate Academy Leipzig to bring together doctoral researchers in American Studies from all across Germany.

Focus on Early-Career Research

At the Postgraduate Forum, doctoral researchers will present their current projects in the fields of American literature, culture, history, and politics. This year’s conference topic is: “Crisis and Resilience in American Literature, Culture, History, and Politics.” For presenters, participation in the thematic area is not mandatory. The PGF offers early-career scholars a welcoming space for exchange, networking, and discussion of their work in an open and supportive environment.

Call for Papers Announced

The Call for Papers for this year’s conference has been announced. Speakers at the conference will have the opportunity to publish their papers in the next issue of COPAS: Current Objectives of Postgraduate American Studies. The project invites critical reflections and interdisciplinary contributions that explore how cultural texts, individuals, communities, and social movements challenge systems of oppression and imagine alternative futures.
