On December 5, 2023, the German-American Institute Saxony (DAIS) will hold the first annual Crister S. Garrett Memorial Lecture Series, in celebration of Crister S. Garrett’s life and legacy and 10 Years of American Space Leipzig.

American Space Leipzig was founded in 2013 by the late Professor American History at the Institute for American Studies Leipzig, Prof. Crister S. Garrett. This institutionalization of American values and learning came as a natural consequence of its close ties to Leipzig University and serves as the foundation for what later became the German-American Institute Saxony (DAIS).

The annual Crister S. Garrett Memorial Lecture will celebrate Prof. Garrett's life and achievements. The first memorial lecture will be held by Dr. Steven E. Sokol, President of the American Council on Germany since 2015.

With welcoming remarks by the Garrett family and Consul General John Crosby.
